Over the last several years I have heeded my daughter's words and been purposeful about my art again. After many years I was determined to really be intentional about learning something new, that is, if I were to pursue this again. So, I made up my mind to learn all I could learn about watercolors, with sketches, and over the last year exploring oil, cold wax, and more mixed media. An oil and cold wax is what you see me holding in the picture.
This past Monday I registered to be part of an awards exhibit that will take place this Sunday, March 26th. The exhibit is called 'The Way I See It'. Featuring abstract, Surrealism, and impressionistic artwork. This event will take place at The Art League of Daytona in Daytona, Florida. https://www.artleague.org/
The reception starts at 1 p.m., the awards ceremony begins at 2 p.m. and continues until 4 p.m. The event runs from March 26th -May 13th. My daughter took a quick photo of me holding my painting, 'Whispers'. It was a cold day and a little breezy out, which explains the tousled hair and my feet were freezing. I don't think the temperature rose above 59 degrees Fahrenheit that day. Haha! However, it was a good day with a fun accomplishment.
It just goes to show that it is never too late to go after what you love. It's also exciting to be part of a bigger community and to learn, grow and celebrate the success of others. I'm super excited to meet some new folks and learn what brought them to this event. I look forward to seeing their artwork and how they have expressed themselves on canvases and sculptures, which will encourage all who attend, Im sure.
I always want to be grateful for the love and encouragement I get from my Family. Regardless of what part of the journey we are on all the steps are important. Just be intentional and don't stop pressing forward. The rewards are endless. God Bless you and May God grant your heart's desires and make all your plans succeed. Psalm 20:4
